| Bobby Vega has a stage history and a list of credits which reads like the "Who's Who" of the San Francisco music scene since the 60's. As a boy of 13, he swept the stage at the "Family Dog" in exchange for tickets to the shows and 3 years later played on stage with the same musical heroes he saw there. A legend in his own right, Vega has graced the stage with such greats as Sly Stone, Paul Butterfield and Etta James, to name but a few. His ability as a rock solid bass player earned him a royal reputation. Dubbed "The King of Funk and the Prince of Time" by Jeff Berlin, his initial fame was in the realm of "Funk". Later projects established his abilities in other musical dimensions. Co-writing the sound track to the PBS Vietnam documentary with Micky Hart and Bill Kreutzman, and composing music for the SEGA CD game, Sonic Hedgehog III are among his most recent endeavors. the scope of his career spans the globe and crosses cultures. Traveling to Japan with Bob Weir & Friends, to Guam with the Starship, to Switzerland's Montreaux Festival with Etta James, Vega's musicianship is world renowned. Down The Road represents a turning point in his career as he ventures into the world as a solo artist. |
